My dear mother Kavita

Kavita's history in the art of cooking

Our Lakshmi (nickname Kavita) was born in March 1935 into an educated, liberal and well-traveled family from India. Her father who had also lived in China and Japan for years, encouraged her to learn continental cooking which led to her first diploma in 1957.

Kavita has been especially fond of baking and further developed this passion when she emigrated to Eindhoven, Netherlands in the early 70s with her son to join her husband who was an electrical engineer at the Philips Electronics corporation and had been working with his Dutch colleagues in India and the Netherlands since the 60s.

Kavita has received much love and appreciation for her culinary talents from so many of her predominantly Dutch friends who have become her second family and admire and love her until this day. As a deeply spiritual person who used to give lectures in the teachings of Hindu philosophy and our holy book, the Bhagavad Gita, to professors in the Netherlands and Germany, Kavita and her family have also embraced Christianity and the teachings of Jesus Christ over the years.

Since her arrival in Europe, she has not only mastered and refined her traditional Indian recipes but also learned to cook authentic Chinese, Dutch, English, French, Greek and Italian food thanks to extensive leisure travel within the European continent as well as having strong family ties in Asia.

A sample of recipes presented here represent a Fusion of Indian and Continental European vegetarian, vegan as well as non-vegetarian dishes and are mostly low in fat and sugar content, but above all easy to make. They have been shared with friends and family over many years and received praise and appreciation with a big smile...🤩

Enjoy! Smakelijk Eten! Bon Appetit! Guten Appetit!
